Web Design
Regardless of the purpose of the your site or whether or not you live close enough for us to meet, the main steps of the web design process break down as follows.

Free Consultation
We begin with an initial discussion on your business needs and design goals. I will ask for a general idea of the content to be included and of the structure, navigation and appearance you want. Any examples, sketchs, questions or wild ideas are welcome.

Price Quote
I can usually quote a price and timeline for completion during our initial discussion. If you want to go ahead with the project the terms will be a 50% down payment and 50% due when the site is ready to use.

Website Prototype
As your website is being developed you will be able to monitor progress and try it out from your home or office by accessing the website prototype (username and password required). We will go through several iterations of review and revision. I build the structure and navigation of the site and then concentrate on colors and style.

Website Approval
Once the design goals of the website prototype are achieved it is ready to use! At this time the second payment for the development of your site is due. I can deliver all the files that comprise your site on a CD or I can provide a link for you to download them. For those sites that choose me for hosting I copy the files to their diskspace.

Addition of Content
The next step to adding your content. You may very much want to do this for yourself, or maybe not. I can coach you on using the Content Management System to add information to your pages and details and photos to your products. Or I can add your content for a $15 hourly cost (about 3-4 products/hour).

Web Hosting
I can register your domain name ($15/year) and can provide web hosting for your site ($20-30/month). Hosting includes detailed statistics on the traffic to your site and email accounts you may wish to create such as info@yourdomainname.com.

Ungoing Support
After assisting with the successful launch of your website I remain available on a paid basis for any additional work such as enhancing the site features, taking product photographs and adding products to the site.
E-Commerce
Whether you want to sell your goods or services, or to publish information without selling, I will take great care in building a visually attractive site for you. I build websites based on two terrific FREE shopping cart systems, Quick.Cart and ViArt Shop. I consider QuickCart and Viart Shop to be superior to other widely used FREE shopping cart systems such as CubeCart, osCommerce and Zen Cart.

During the early stages of the design of your website we will identify either QuickCart or ViArt Shop as the best solution for what you need. Both provide a very nice administrative backend that enables the management of the pages, products and orders of your site.

"If you do what you love and love what you do, you'll never work another day in your life."

I consider myself fortunate to have always been able to identify with that quotation! My career of over 30 years in Information Technologies began when I was 21 and hired by the University of Dayton as a computer operator. It has been fascinating to watch the world of technology evolve from the days of the punch card and room size mainframes. I value the perspective that this life-long involvement in technology provides. It is a challenge to stay abreast of the ever increasing rate of change in technology, and I feel it helps a great deal to have a real understanding of whence we came.
